Bryan T. Donovan Gets A Thintervention
At 60 pounds overweight, Bryan T. Donovan found it hard to get out of bed in the morning. Depression was keeping him from being the man he knew he could be. He knew he needed to make changes in his life. Then came Jackie Warner’s Thintervention. Jackie Warner, star of BRAVO’s series Work Out.
What drew 37 year old actor/producer Bryan T. Donovan to Thintervention is that it stands apart from other weight-loss shows in many ways. He decided to lose weight in a very public venue because if he said this out loud, failure would not be an option — there would be no turning back. Of all the participants, Bryan had the most weight to lose. Thintervention is not a show about extreme weight-loss. Unlike other weight-loss shows, participants stay in their own homes and continue in their normal daily routine. According to Donovan, Thintervention is about adopting a healthier lifestyle. Warner helps participants to change bad habits and integrate healthy habits instead. Thintervention provides group counseling once a week as part of the program, and exercise takes place in Warner’s gym and at other interesting locations. Participants are weighed weekly as part of the program, and Warner can surprise them anytime or anywhere to make sure they are sticking to their plan.
On the first day of the show, he thought, “…What have I gotten into.” The first day was terrifying for him. After the terror of weighing himself in front of strangers and the fear of the unknown had passed, Bryan discovered that Jackie Warner wasn’t as scary as rumors led him to believe. In fact, he said she was a real “pussycat” and “super sweet,” and he adores her . When asked what he wanted people to know about his time on the show, he replied, “Jackie was a great kisser. Just kidding. We never kissed. She wanted to. I think she was highly attracted to me, but we never kissed… She wanted me very badly… We talked about her balls all the time.”
After Thintervention, Bryan T. Donovan feels amazing, has become more productive than ever, has more energy to play with his two four-legged, furry sons (his dogs, of course), and he still has time to devote to his animal charities. He left with many new friends who he keeps in touch with, a great outlook on life, and a determination to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Before Thintervention, he was a self-proclaimed, “foodie.” Now, inspired by what he’s learned in the program, he’s writing a cookbook with delectable, healthy recipes. He has several other new projects that he’s working on as well, including a couple screenplays on the burner. Additionally, in late 2010, look for his film, 6 Month Rule to hit the independent film festivals. It stars Martin Starr, Natalie Morales, and Jaime Pressly (of My Name is Earl fame.).
Bryan calls his time on Thintervention, “A really fun ride” and says, “America will get a kick out some people. There are some fun moments in the show. There are some funny people in that room.”
Thintervention airs Monday nights at 10/9C on Bravo.
